John George Carey

Secretary of the clacton-wanderers.com Darts Team.

Also Secretary of the Bootleggers Darts Team in the Clacton Men's Darts League and Secretary of the Holland Ship "A" team in the Walton & District Darts League and Thorpe & District Summer Darts League.

John first took the game of Darts seriously when asked to join the White Horse team Chadwell Heath in 1978 playing in the Barkingside & District Darts League. No successes here but it was a start.

After moving to Great Horkesley, Colchester John played for the Half Butt Darts Team for three years in the Colchester & District Darts League and the Truman's Darts League.

The next three years were spent with the Leather Bottle team in Shrub End taking this new team from Division 5 to Division 2 in just three seasons before the team disbanded.

A move to Walton-on-the-Naze in 1984 caused a brief interruption in League darts but games were still enjoyed at work in the local pubs plus the occasional tournament before joining the Elisé team for a season and then the Kirby Ship team for two seasons in the Clacton Darts League. Business and domestic circumstances caused another interruption which lasted some five or six years before John was pursueded to rejoin the Kirby Ship team to play on Mondays in the Clacton Darts League and Tuesdays in the Walton & District Darts League.

John currently serves on Committees for three leagues: Clacton Mid-Week Darts League, Clacton Men's Darts League and Walton & District Darts League whilst helping out with the running of the Thorpe & District Summer Darts League as and when necessary. He is also webmaster of the websites for the same four leagues and the teams he is Secretary for in those four leagues.

John admits to being a Darts Fanatic and says he "Lives to play darts".
